  • What Is R410a?

R410a, also called Puron refrigerant is a chemical used in cooling systems. R410a is the preferred refrigerant of many homes and commercial buildings for its eco-friendliness. Unlike other types of refrigerants, Puron does not emit any chemicals that can be harmful to the earth’s ozone.

  • Can I Just Switch to Puron Without Having to Change My Indoor Freon Evaporator Coil?
Unfortunately, refrigerants are not interchangeable. Mixing two different refrigerants can cause your AC to break down and lose its lubricating ability altogether.
  • What Is SEER?

The abbreviation for Season Energy Efficiency Rating, SEER is the measurement used to determine your HVAC system’s efficiency. The higher the SEER, the more efficient the unit is.

  • How Much Will a 14 Seer A/C Save Me Over My Current System?

Older AC units typically have 8 to 10 SEER. Newer units, however, have 13 and above. You can expect around 30-40% energy savings from units with 14 or higher SEER.

  • What Is a Two-Stage Gas Valve?

Older furnaces usually have single-stage or only one gas valve, which refers to the burner section or the component responsible for regulating gas flow of the unit. A furnace with two-stage gas valve is far more superior. Advantages include a more even heat in your home and energy savings.

  • How Much Money Will a New Furnace Save Me Over My Current Furnace?

Furnaces have become more efficient through the years. From a typical 65% AFUE of older units, today’s furnaces have no less than 78% AFUE. Other units even reach as high as 97% AFUE. While getting a new furnace may be costly upfront, you can recoup that with the savings you’ll receive on your energy bill. The exact value, however, would still depend on your usage, but you can expect at least 16% decrease in your heating bill.

  • Will You Remove My Old Equipment and Dispose of It?

When you enlist us for an AC or furnace replacement in Houston, we remove the old equipment and take care of its disposal. We even recover any refrigerant of old ACs and dispose of this properly as per EPA guidelines.

  • Will My New System Have to be Inspected by the City or County Officials After the Installation?

Yes, mechanical code requires that a city or county official inspect major system installations. This is done to make sure that the installation was performed according to local industry standards and safety codes.

  • Should I Have a Service Contract?

We highly encourage signing up to a service contract regardless if you have an old or new HVAC equipment. Just like your car, your AC or furnace needs regular maintenance to keep it at peak performance, prevent any major breakdowns, and extend its lifespan.

  • Do You Use Anything to Protect My Floor or Furniture?

As Nexstar members, we adhere to a code of ethics that ensures excellence in all our services. When you reach out to us, you can be sure that our Houston heating and AC service team is respectful of your home and property. We wear shoe covers and place protective mats in our work areas to ensure a mess-free service. Before we leave, we even make sure that your home is as clean as we found it.

  • Can I Place Plants Around My Outdoor Unit?

Placing plants around your outdoor unit poses no problem as long as the vents are clear of any blockage to ensure proper airflow.

  • What Are My Payment Options?

AirCon Service Company accepts cash, check, and major credit cards including Visa, MasterCard, and Discover. We also have financing options available for customers who need a little help with their budget.

  • Should I replace both my heating and cooling system at the same time?

Changing your whole system is the best way to optimize efficiency and comfort as well as take full advantage of new technologies. Watch this video to learn more…
